Back to the future for Rydale’s owners with major re-roofing contract for houses in home village

A North Staffordshire roofing company’s latest project is a labour of love.

Rydale Roofing is working with Aspire Housing to re-roof homes in Knutton – the village in which company owners Mick and Julie Mirowski grew up.

The Knutton scheme is part of a three year contract with Aspire that has allowed Rydale Roofing to double its workforce to 20 roofers.

Established by former miner Mick Mirowski in 1993, Rydale Roofing initially worked on roof repair and re-roofing work for local residents.

But the corporate contract side of the business has grown rapidly in recent months.

Along with the Aspire contract, a successful 2012 has seen Rydale Roofing work with the Princes Regeneration Trust in Middleport and CoRE (the Centre of Refurbishment Excellence) at Longton.

The Aspire agreement has also allowed Rydale Roofing to take on two young workers who are getting on the job experience and help via the training programme run by PM Training (part of the Aspire group).

Company Director, Julie Mirowski, said: “It is particularly pleasing to establish a good working relationship with Aspire Housing as they are the primary provider of social housing in our home borough of Newcastle-under-Lyme.

“Previously we have worked as sub-contractors on large home re-roofing projects, so winning the latest contract ourselves is a major breakthrough for Rydale Roofing.

“Both Mick and I grew up in the Knutton area and now live just minutes away so this contract is very much a labour of love.”

The re-roofing contract covers an area including Moran Road, Arthur Street, parts of Knutton Road, Camillus Road and St Giles Road.

Rydale Roofing will have replaced 230 roofs by the end of March, 2013.

Notes to Editors:

Rydale Roofing was launched after Mick Mirowski, a former miner, lost his job during the pit closure programme in the early 1990s.

The company takes on any size of roofing work from a small leak in an

individual home to major contracts and sub-contracts.

The company recently branched out into the solar energy section, supplying and fitting photo voltaic panels on both homes and larger buildings.

Rydale Roofing won the “micro business” category in the 2010 Newcastle-under-Lyme Business Boost competition,  an annual awards scheme sponsored by the public and private sectors to encourage entrepreneurship and job creation among companies in the borough of Newcastle, Staffordshire.
