Gingerbread Centre appoints Wendy Hocking as Chief Executive

Experienced housing professional Wendy Hocking has taken up a new challenge as Chief Executive of the Gingerbread Centre.

Wendy has moved to the Gingerbread Centre from a role managing the Newcastle Housing Advice service on behalf of Newcastle Borough Council.

Wendy previously held senior housing management roles at Aspire Housing and at Stoke-on-Trent City Council.

She said: “The Gingerbread Centre provides a home and support for some of the most deprived residents in North Staffordshire.

“It is a privilege to take on the role of Chief Executive and to lead a highly committed team of professionals in their work to improve the prospects for Stoke-on-Trent families in need.”

The Gingerbread Centre provides accommodation for both female and male victims of domestic violence at two locations in Stoke-on-Trent.

It also works to improve their customers’ future life prospects through counselling and social enterprise initiatives such as Prom Mum.

Mervyn Ryan, Chairman of Trustees at the Gingerbread Centre, said: “We are delighted to welcome Wendy as our new chief executive. Wendy comes with a good track record of working with families in need and this will serve her well in her new role.”
