Hard work pays off for top temp James

Persistence and a willingness to work hard paid off for job seeker James White.

James, aged 21, has been crowned Temp of the Year 2013 by Brampton Recruitment and his “can do” attitude has led to a permanent job with timber company SCA.

But the road to employment proved anything but easy for James, of Talke.

He impressed staff at Brampton’s Newcastle-under-Lyme office with his determination after being pipped at the post for several roles.

Vikki Cave of Brampton Recruitment said: “James had a great attitude from the first time he came into Brampton Recruitment.

“He was polite, enthusiastic and very keen to learn and develop new skills. He attended a number of interviews and always received excellent feedback but was consistently pipped at the post.

“Then in April we had an opportunity at Etruria-based SCA where James was successful in securing a temp to permanent opportunity.

“During his time temping James was fantastic, he never had any time off and worked hard to make an impression – as a result he was offered a permanent job and was also nominated for Temp of the Year.”

Supervisor Tracee Winstone, who nominated James, commented: “I never have to ask James to do anything twice, James takes it all in his stride. We recently won a large contract with a national DIY chain and James yet again upped his game.”

Claire Leigh, Managing Director at Brampton Recruitment, said: “We run the annual Temp of the Year Award as we recognise that the work and importance of temps to employers and the economy can be overlooked.”
