Moorlands entrepreneurs are the business

An enterprising Staffordshire Moorlands business group is celebrating after its members smashed a networking organisation’s records.

The Leek Thursday Business for Breakfast (BforB) group generated just under £1 million of business in 2013 – around treble the next best amount recorded by any BforB group in Staffordshire.

Nearly 20 business owners meet fortnightly to pass business referrals and leads.

Regional  BforB Director Len Foster said: “We have a diverse range of members, including an architect, a web developer and a pensions expert, but they all  have a common goal – to work together to generate business.

“Referral marketing is very powerful as members act as each other’s advocates and sales force, but our Leek members have taken it a step further. They regularly meet outside of work for both business and social occasions fostering high levels of trust and loyalty.

“Leek has the X-factor and is used as a showcase by BforB’s Managing Director to spur on new group leaders and regional directors.

“We have hosted BforB visits by regional directors from as far afield as Ireland and the Czech Republic in 2013.”

Star performers in the group are Cheadle based architects Hewitt and Carr. Business partner Natalie Hewitt made more than 50 business referrals to other BforB members in 2013.

Natalie said: “We joined BforB as a start-up business in 2010 and have benefitted greatly from the support, business know-how and referrals of our fellow members. Both Mark (Carr) and I live and work in the local area and are able to give something back by passing on business leads and referrals from our contacts.”
