A Staffordshire vintage tea room is the talk of Twitter after being recognised by former Dragons’ Den star Theo Paphitis.

Lily’s Secret Vintage Tea Room was among six businesses to catch the eye of Ryman’s boss, Theo, during Small Business Sunday – earning a retweet to the entrepreneur’s 500,000 followers.

Located at Swan Pit Nursery, Gnosall, the tea rooms combine owner, Sarah Lewis’ love of baking and all things vintage.

Sarah tweeted:

@theopaphitis independent vintage tearoom creating a community for workshops.events and scrumptious tea and homemade cakes of course! #SBS

“My love of vintage and home baking obviously struck a chord with Theo – perhaps he has a sweet tooth,” said Sarah who can be found on Twitter @LilysTearoom.

“Each Sunday, Theo sets the business community a challenge to tweet him with a description of their business, using the hashtag #SBS.

“Winners not only get retweeted by Theo but become members of the #SBS community. There is a website, an online shop, and a chance to exchange information and network with all the previous winners.

“It has created a strong community and we are looking forward to getting to know #SBS winners from across the UK.”

A trained chef, Sarah, founded Lily’s Secret Vintage Tea Room in 2014.

While the “secret” tea room is tucked away in the nursery on the Stafford to Newport Road (A518), it has become a popular meeting place with a growing reputation for Sarah’s home baked treats and its vintage ambiance.

Sarah has also made Lily’s a popular venue for community events and craft workshops.

Sarah added: “We are open every day and also host arrange of special events and cater for weddings, funerals and all kinds of gathering.

“We are now gearing up for Christmas, afternoon tea has really taken off reflecting the popularity of TV shows like the Great British Bake Off and all things home and craft baked. Here at Lily’s, we will be preparing afternoon tea with a Christmas twist.”
