A Staffordshire architect has won a contract with Stoke-on-Trent City Council to design high quality social housing in the heart of the city.
Croft Architecture has drawn up plans for 26 apartments and houses in Norfolk Street, Shelton.
“There are several major benefits to the scheme,” said Croft Director Carl Croft. “It will transform a derelict site and provide both one-bedroom apartments and four-bedroom homes to rent. The site previously housed a derelict pottery but was cleared during the Housing Pathfinder scheme and then left undeveloped.”
Croft Architecture won the contract to design the scheme after carrying-out a feasibility study on housing sites for the city council. The plans are subject to a planning application which is expected to be determined by the council in July.
“There are many pockets of urban land available in the city and the city council has plans to use them for new homes. Infill schemes on brownfield sites improve the environment for city residents and provide new homes without using green field sites,” said Carl. “It is the first time Croft Architecture has won a contract with Stoke-on-Trent City Council and it is good to be working on a project that will benefit my home city.”
Croft Architecture was founded by RIBA qualified architect Carl Croft in 2009 and has a team of eight, including five architects. The practice undertakes commercial and residential work and is based at Anson Court, Staffordshire Technology Park, Stafford.
