Service expansion for growing North Staffordshire business with a little help from their building trade friends

A company’s expansion into house refurbishment has led to work for at least seven North Staffordshire businesses on just one job.

Now Sixtowns Waste has started a second refurbishment project and has won a contract providing maintenance work for Stoke-on-Trent City Council.

It’s fantastic news for Sixtowns Waste which has grown quickly since it’s foundation just two yars ago. The company offers holistic solutions to commercial and domestic waste removal and disposable,  but clearance of a home for a landlord resulted in a new job stream for the company.

“We were approached by a private landlord to prepare a home in Meir Heath that had been left in a terrible mess,” explained Managing Director Ben Trickett of Barlaston.

“It had been left in a dreadful state with piles of rubbish in the gardens and lots of internal damage. But the standard of work carried out led to the landlord asking whether we could manage the refurbishment.”

This was a new departure for the Sixtowns Waste team but Ben, who has years of experience in managing projects, used his business skills to bring together a range of trades people from the local area.

Ben explained: “At Sixtowns Waste we work with contractors across the waste disposal sector to ensure that customers get the right solution.

“As a business owner I have also forged relationships with companies across the building trades, especially through business networking with the Chamber of Commerce, BNI Sir Stanley Matthews, and the Grafters trades network.”

This allowed Ben to recruit an army of trades people from across North Staffordshire including Central Glass and Windows, Franklin and Jameson Joinery, Allcoat Decorating, CE&PS electrical services, Syn3gy Heating Solutions, plasterer Giuseppe Sinaguglia, and Hype Maintenance.

Ben said: “A complete clean out and refurbishment was required both inside and out.  The garden was a jungle, and we had to cut it right back, repair steps, and install new fencing. Some windows and doors had to be replaced, a new bathroom was needed, plastering work was completed, and new carpets fitted.

“The success of the project adds a new service line for our business and provides work for several trusted friends across the building and maintenance sectors. Currently we have a core team of two but have ambitions to expand.

“We only use companies we know and trust and this means we can guarantee to our clients that they are getting experienced and high-quality work across all trades.

Ben founded Sixtowns Waste in 2023 after carrying-out research into the industry sector. He explained: “It became clear that many companies were using multiple solutions for various types of disposal. We look at an organisation’s overall waste usage and find the best available solutions to ensure efficient and responsible disposable at competitive rates.
