Finalists gear up for Business Boost ceremony

A diverse group of finalists are gearing up for a unique business awards ceremony in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Business Boost places the spotlight on growing companies in the borough of Newcastle-under-Lyme through a range of annual awards to help them to progress.

From dog groomers to green energy providers and film makers to IT security providers, the 2013 competition has attracted some of the brightest up and coming companies in North Staffordshire.

The 2013 award ceremony will take place at the Keele University Sustainability Hub on Thursday (10 October).

Business Boost offers cash prizes to help companies with up to 250 employees to flourish. There are three major categories with awards for Entrepreneurial Spirit, Customer Focus and overall Impact on Newcastle Borough.

There are also special awards on offer with prizes including subsidised apprenticeships offered via the Aspire Group, funded by the Realise Foundation,  and free membership of the North Staffordshire Chamber of Commerce.

This year’s shortlist:

Impact on Newcastle Borough: Inspired film and Video, Language for Fun, Wildwood Outdoors.

Entrepreneurial Spirit: Posh Pugs, the Gold Disc Company, True Track Software

Customer Focus: SMART Strategy Marketing, Tolerant Systems Ltd, Purple Energy.

Business Boost is run by a group of local business people together with support from Newcastle Borough Council, Staffordshire County Council, the Aspire Group and the North Staffordshire Chamber of Commerce.

“We believe Business Boost creates a great platform for growing businesses in Newcastle-under-Lyme,” said Bernard Lovatt, Chairman of the Business Boost organising panel.

“Entrants also get the opportunity to work with business advisors and feedback shows that Business Boost can help in many ways. It helps small businesses to focus on producing a business plan that works, promotes links with other businesses in Newcastle-under-Lyme and progression to the final gives businesses a confidence boost and recognition.”
