The Alice Charity has scored with a major event bringing Liverpool and England goal scoring legend Robbie Fowler to Stoke-on-Trent.
Hundreds of football supporters are expected to attend the prestigious black tie evening at the King’s Hall, Stoke, where Fowler will be joined by special guests including popular former Stoke City striker Mama Sidibe.
Fowler, who has also built up a highly successful property business, is being brought to the Potteries by locally based events company Abzorbed Events.
The evening will be compered by well-known Liverpool born comedian Willie Miller who has fronted events for stars including Bruce Forsyth and John Bishop.
Run by Usman Shah and Nasar Riaz, Abzorbed helped to popularise the fun sport of zorbing to the UK and have provided entertainment at Premier League clubs, including Stoke City and Newcastle United. The company is based at Lancaster Buildings, in Newcastle-under-Lyme town centre.
“We are excited and delighted to be bringing Robbie Fowler to Stoke-on-Trent,” said Usman. “Our event is attracting interest from the business world and football fans alike.
“Ticket sales for the gala dinner and balcony view on June 5 are going well. Along with being one of the most gifted goal scorers in Premier League history, Robbie is also a highly successful businessman and mentor to young people.
“We are also pleased to announce a charity partner in the North Staffordshire based Alice Charity. Alice staff are working with us to promote the event and there will be a charity auction on the night featuring signed memorabilia from Robbie Fowler.
“Supporting a charity which works to give direct support to people in the local area was important to our events team.”
Steph Talbot, founder and Chief Executive of Alice Charity said: “It is great to have been chosen as partner for this prestigious event. We are a small charity, so the boost this will give to our profile is fantastic. The funds raised by the event will go to help families in need in Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme.”
Abzorbed Events have a series of table packages and sponsorship packages available for the event. There is also the option of balcony seats for people who simply want to hear Robbie Fowler speak.

Notes to Editors:
The Alice Charity was founded in 2011 to offer an accessible service to families within the communities of Stoke & Newcastle to provide social, emotional and financial support to those in need of a helping hand.

Projects include:
Pass it On: Alice Charity collect good quality second hand goods and distribute them to vulnerable families in Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Buckets of Possibilities: The Alice Charity supports parents who through problems such as poverty, mental health issues, or drug abuse, cannot provide an appropriate home environment for their children. The Alice Charity team make home visits to assess what needs to be done to create a safe and healthy environment. Repair and refurbishment plans are then completed with the help of professionals. After work on the home is complete, the charity continues to provide ongoing support to ensure they are able to maintain a healthy standard of living.
Little Kindnesses: Designed to provide simple acts of kindness from topping up a gas meter during a cold spell to ensuring that a child can go with his or her friends on a school trip.

Alice Charity’s vision is to help 5,000 families by 2017.
