Two North Staffordshire companies have launched a partnership to provide a full range of building safety checks for companies.

The alliance between SAS Water Ltd and Synergy Environmental Solutions brings together a comprehensive range of services essential for keeping workers safe, all of which are required by law.

Synergy Environmental Solutions, based in Silverdale, offer a wide range of occupational hygiene services, while Leek-based SAS Water are water in the workplace safety specialists.

Helen Woollaston, a Director at Synergy Environmental Solutions, said: “Having spoken to Lizzie Ward, SAS Water’s Managing Director, it became clear we had the same strong values on high quality service provision and customer service.

“We offer a wide range of occupational hygiene services, however, we’re not specialists in workplace water, including legionella control.

“We now have a formal agreement and our staff will ask about legionella control when running through the needs of companies we work with. In turn, SAS Water will be able to offer our services.

“It makes perfect sense, and is important, as getting all these services right are legal requirements. I’m an occupational hygiene specialist and I’m pleased to see a trend towards the importance of health in the workplace. Previously, the safety aspect of health and safety has been more prominent, but the emphasis is shifting.”

The alliance comes after two old friends and rivals on the netball court met up again.

Helen said: “I noticed Lizzie putting out helpful information on Legionella via LinkedIn and sent a message to say I never knew you did that.

“We’d played netball against each other several times, even marking one another on court.”

Lizzie said: “It was good to meet Helen again and, when we chatted, it quickly became clear we could help companies by working in partnership.”

“We both believe in educating our company’s customers on what is needed to keep staff and visitors safe and on what the law says you must do.

“When the HSE carry-out inspections, it’s vital that you can show them you have testing protocols in place.”

SAS Water employ a team of 12, consisting primarily of water safety consultants and commercial plumbers. Synergy also has a 12-strong team of specialists in areas including stack emission monitoring, workplace air monitoring, noise monitoring, local exhaust ventilation thorough examination and testing, hand arm and whole body vibration.
