Business Boost to hold virtual awards night to celebrate local company’s pandemic response

Business Boost is to hold its first ever livestreamed awards night to celebrate Newcastle-under-Lyme companies which survived and thrived during the Covid-19 lockdowns.

An online awards event will be held at 7pm on Wednesday, December 1 – live from King Street Studios, Newcastle.

Business Boost isn’t holding its traditional awards programme until 2022, however, the organisers  recently called on small and medium sized companies, from Newcastle borough, to tell them how they responded to the Coronavirus pandemic.

There are three main awards of £500 on offer, plus prizes for Highly Commended entries.

“We’ve had a fantastic response and it’s great to see how local companies innovated during the lockdowns and entries are now closed,” said Business Boost Chair, Sarah Da Silva. “The judging panel are going to face some tough choices ahead of the ceremony on December 1st when the winners will be unveiled for the first time.”

Shortlisted companies will be invited to the awards evening which will be held at the King Street film studio, Newcastle.

The event will be filmed by PH Productions, who have a base at King Street Studios and are experts at live streaming events across the UK.

A decision has been taken to have a small audience at the venue, due to continuing caution over Covid-19, with supporters, the finalists’ staff and other companies being asked to join in via Facebook Live.

Shortlisted entrants will have a special beer delivery from sponsors Best of British Beer to enjoy on the evening.

Business Boost is run by a group of local business people who give their time for free, supported by representatives from Newcastle Borough Council and the Newcastle town centre BID. Business Boost is open to any company in the borough of Newcastle-under-Lyme with less than 250 full time equivalent employees.
