New workshops and offices have set Stoke-on-Trent’s Central Glass and Windows on course for a bright future.
The company has moved a short distance from Broom Street to the Metro Business Park, off Clough Street, Hanley.
But the new premises are over twice the size of the former workplace, giving Central Glass and Windows room to grow.
The Hanley-based company, which will celebrate its 15th anniversary this year, has shown steady growth over a number of years.
Managing Director Gareth Dunn said: “We now employ 25 people, up from around 15 in 2017, and we work on large contracts across the country, fabricating aluminium window frames in house and providing both aluminium and uPVC windows to clients including schools, councils, car showrooms, retail, and leisure premises.
“All our staff have advanced DBS checks, which means we can support schools during term times, we are certified by our industry watchdog FENSA and have all relevant health and safety accreditations, including Chas, Construction Line and Safe Contractor. The company also gained ISO9001 accreditation last year.”
The company also works in the domestic homes market fitting uPVC and aluminium windows and working with architects on new build and renovation projects. In addition, a 24/7 call service is available for for commercial clients.
Gareth added: “We were bursting at the seams at Broom Street and the move allows us more space to grow with the bonus of adding in better facilities for our current team. Our policy has always been to grow steadily. This has served us well and we will continue to move forward, taking on additional work and adding in new staff as we go.”
The new building measures over 8000 sq. ft. and Gareth said one benefit was the ability to store more aluminium, allowing for a faster turnaround where aluminium needs to be cut to shape and size on Central Glass and Windows’ CNC machines, further improving customer service.
Founded in 2010 by father and son David and Gareth Dunn and their two business partners Dean Simpson and Adrian Mellor, Central Glass is very much a family business.
Eight members of the Dunn family work at the company including Gareth’s two sisters, his son, niece, and nephew.
“My dad has worked in the glazing industry for over 50-years, and I followed him into the trade, before starting Central Glass and Windows in December 2010,” said Gareth, “As we have been able to grow our workforce, I am now able to focus more of my time on business planning to ensure further future growth.
