Companies urged to take the It’s A Knockout Challenge to raise funds for families in need

Companies are being challenged to compete in an annual It’s A Knockout contest, run by Newcastle-under-Lyme’s Rydale Roofing to raise funds to support local families living in poverty.

The contest, to be held at Knutton playing fields on Sunday, 14 July, uses authentic equipment, similar to that on the well-known 1970s TV show and competitors can expect plenty of thrills and spills and a good soaking.

Julie, a Director at Rydale Roofing, is also a trustee at the Alice Charity and is raising much needed funds for the Newcastle-based charity.

Julie said: “It’s A Knockout is a great way to raise funds and have a good day out while raising vital funds for Alice. You don’t have to be particularly sporty to have a go and it is great for team building and raising staff morale.

“We will have the familiar It’s A Knockout features and we’ll be encouraging teams to dress up, with prizes for the best costumes and a prize for most sponsorship raised.”

Organisers are looking for up to 20 teams of 10 to 12 people.

People are also being encouraged to come along and cheer on the contestants as there will be a bouncy castle, an ice cream van and food.

“It is a family fun day and we want parents to bring their children. The children can have a go at some of the It’s A Knockout obstacles, during the lunch break and thee will be plenty to keep everyone happy.

“There is a serious side, as Alice Charity is always in need of resources to help vulnerable families in North Staffordshire. As a  charity, Alice relies on donations to keep its support programmes running. We are coming up to a crucial time of the year, the long summer school holidays and we know that many families go hungry as parents cannot get access to free school meals. Alice supports parents, whether it is through our People’s Pantry, activities to support the welfare of parents and children or vital furnishings for the homes of families who are going without.”
