Customer service quality and financial planning gets SIS switched on to General Electric

Protective clothing and workwear supplier Stafford Industrial Supplies (SIS) Ltd are celebrating winning new customers including big names such as General Electric (GE) in the county town.
Persistence paid dividends for SIS MD Paul Walters as he targeted the Lichfield Road based electrical giants.
“I have been chatting to them and knocking on the door for many months and it is particularly satisfying when you get to supply locally based big name customers,” said Paul. “We also enjoy an excellent working relationship with Stafford borough council and I believe our successes are testimony to the high levels of attention to detail that my staff consistently supply to customers.”
Paul also praised a partnership with Stafford-based Carthy Accountants as a factor in the company’s recent success.
“We began to work with Carthy Accountants last year and have established a relationship which goes far beyond our previous dealings with accountants. We hold regular meetings to plan financial and business strategy and the advice I have received has been instrumental in how we have made changes in the business to foster growth.
“Having a clear view of business finances is vital and Carthy Accountants have encouraged us to move to real time accountancy software Xero which allows us to have a full view of our financial numbers at any time and we use Unleashed, a cloud-based software, to facilitate the stock and inventory systems.”
Paul restructured SIS Ltd in 2017 adding Operations Manager Jake Chadwick to the staff and promoting long-standing employee Garedd Duncan to Director level.
SIS Ltd was founded in 1989 and Paul has been with the business since 2001. Paul, a Council member at the Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce, became a Director of SIS in 2008 and bought the whole business in 2011.
The business, based on the Astonfields Industrial Estate, Stafford, supplies protective workwear, safety boots and footwear, industrial signage, janitorial supplies and personalised, embroidered workwear to companies across Staffordshire and beyond. SIS Ltd boasts state-of-the-art heat printing and embroidery equipment and their knowledge of health and safety at work means they can advise and supply clients with confidence.
