Hanley Economic Building Society Awards Nearly £30k to Local Charities Through Hanley at Home Fund

Hanley Economic Building Society, in partnership with the Community Foundation for Staffordshire and Shropshire, has awarded a total of £28,907 to seven local charities through its Hanley at Home Fund.

The funding will support a wide range of community initiatives aimed at promoting independence, education, and housing stability in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire Moorlands, Newcastle Borough and Stafford Borough.

The latest round of grants will benefit:

  • Age UK Stafford & District
  • Katharine House Hospice
  • Staffordshire Sight Loss Association
  • Symmetrical North Staffs
  • Walk Ministries
  • Number 11
  • Disability Solutions West Midlands

Each organisation serves a unique demographic, from older adults and individuals with visual impairments to those overcoming homelessness or health challenges. The funding will help deliver vital services such as financial education, life skills training, and support for independent living.

The Hanley at Home Fund was originally launched in April 2024 in partnership with the Community Foundation for Staffordshire and Shropshire. It is dedicated to supporting people in the community facing housing-related challenges. The fund was reopened on April 1, 2025, and closed on June 1, 2025, allowing organisations to apply for grants of up to £5,000. Charities have now been selected to receive funding, to the delight of all involved.

Vicki Hardie, People and Community Engagement Officer at Hanley Economic Building Society, commented:

“The Hanley at Home Fund is about more than just housing—it’s about helping people live independently and with dignity. From financial literacy to post-hospital support, these charities are delivering life-changing services. It’s a privilege to help them continue their work.”

Joe Palmer, Programmes Officer at the Community Foundation, added:

“This initiative is a shining example of how local businesses can give back in meaningful ways. The range of organisations supported reflects the diversity of needs in our community, and we’re proud to help facilitate that impact.”

Applications for the next round of funding will reopen in 2026, with dates to be confirmed. For updates and more information, visit: http://www.staffordshire.foundation
