University and further education students have received information, help and advice on potential careers in science and engineering.
Staffordshire University School of Sciences and School of Engineering, Stoke on Trent College and City of Stoke on Trent Sixth Form came together for a careers event at the UniQ Science Centre, Leek Road, Stoke.
Recruitment staff from Brampton Recruitment attended the event (on Wednesday, 6 November) to speak to students about the job market and the different types of engineering roles their clients have to offer.
Claire Leigh, Managing Director at Brampton Recruitment, said that there was a growing pool of jobs in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics – known collectively as the STEM sector – becoming available for graduate entrants.
A recent study by Staffordshire University concluded that the STEM sector will account for almost a quarter of all new jobs in the UK by 2017.

The study also revealed t hat salary growth in the STEM sector was mainly focused on more junior roles, offering good opportunities for students who may have been saddled with Student Loan debts.
