High profile heritage role on offer

A high profile role with the Prince’s Regeneration Trust is up for grabs in Stoke-on-Trent.

The Trust is looking to appoint a General Manager for the historic Middleport Pottery site.

The position is being advertised through North Staffordshire based Brampton Recruitment which has carried-out previous successful recruitment exercises for the Trust.

The General Manager will oversee the running and management of Middleport Pottery together with PRT sites in Cornwall and Scotland.

Middleport Pottery is an important heritage site. It houses the last remaining Victorian pottery of its kind and is home to the historic Burleigh brand,

Work is well underway on an £8.5 million regeneration project which involves consolidating the pottery manufacturing facilities and developing part of the site for craft and associated businesses.

A visitor and education centre, which will include a factory shop and cafe, is set to open in summer 2014.

Recruitment is taking place now so that the person is involved in key decisions prior to the completion of the project which will impact the opening of the site as a visitor destination.

Claire Leigh, Managing Director of Brampton Recruitment, said: “This is an excellent management role offering the opportunity to lead one of the most important industrial heritage sites in the UK.  We are ideally seeking a person who has experience of managing properties and contents and ideally visitor centre experience or premises that are open to the public.

“Middleport Pottery is the Prince’s Regeneration Trust’s most significant site but the General Manager will also be responsibility for the Old Duchy Palace, in Lostwithiel, Cornwall, and Flagstone Cottages in Caithness plus any other future assets acquired by the Trust.

“Brampton Recruitment first worked with the PRT in autumn 2012 and we are thrilled to be retained by the trust again to recruit for such a fascinating post.”
