House calls are more likely to be associated with a rural vet rather than a Solicitor.
But Staffordshire Moorlands based family law specialist, Jo Johnson, has seen her new practice grow quickly after offering the option of home visits to clients.
“Divorce, and all the issues that arise from it, are incredibly traumatic and I have found many people are more at ease if interviews are carried out in the family home or in a neutral environment,” explained Jo of Cheddleton based Jo Johnson Family Law.
“I offer to meet people in their home or at their workplace and it can lead to a less stressful interview.”
Jo, who has a farming background, has found that farming families in the Staffordshire Moorlands and beyond benefit from the option of a home visit as it is often difficult to take time out of their busy farming schedules to visit a solicitor.
Jo added: “Divorce, or separation, in a farming family can be extremely complicated as the home and business life can be inextricably linked. There may also be a number of members of an extended family with interests in the farm, so it can be difficult to make decisions on who stays in a property when family life breaks down.”
Jo Johnson established her family law firm in 2015 having previously worked with large practices in Staffordshire and Manchester.
Jo is a passionate collaborative lawyer and an advocate of no-fault divorce.  She is a longstanding member of Resolution, an organisation who promote non-confrontational divorce and separation and who encourage solutions which consider the needs of the whole family, particularly the interests of children.
