International recognition for Staffordshire’s The Interior Design Practice as The Oak House project, Moddershall Oaks, hits the gold standard

Design work for The Oak House, Moddershall Oaks, by Newcastle-under-Lyme’s  The Interior Design Practice has been shortlisted for the 2021 SBID International Design Awards.

Global recognition for their work on The Oak House follows the Interior Design Practice being named as Best Restaurant Design in Northern England in the 2020 Northern Design Awards.

“It’s a huge thrill to be recognised among the world’s best design practices,” said Emma Moss, Managing Director of the Interior Design Practice. “Bringing the design to life at The Oak House has been so rewarding; we’ve worked closely with the team at Moddershall Oaks who put their trust in us to ensure that the final result delivers the luxurious experience they were looking for, and I’m so pleased that we’ve been recognised amongst some of the finest restaurants around the world.”

Penny Weston, Director at Moddershall Oaks, said: “The project looks absolutely incredible, The Interior Design Practice deserve this so much.”

The Oak House opened at award winning Moddershall Oaks in June 2021. The new restaurant offers its guests picturesque lakeside dining, casual drinks, afternoon tea and Sunday lunch. The  Design Practice has also been commissioned to transform the first floor of the venue into a luxurious cocktail lounge and balcony bar, with work due for completion very soon.

The Society of British and International Interior Design (SBID) is the professional organisation and accreditation body to the interior design profession.

The award nomination says that The Interior Design Practice designed a newly defined, modern restaurant to mark the 20-year anniversary of Moddershall Oaks Health & Spa.

The project re-imagined the interior, taking inspiration from Moddershall Oaks’ natural and organic surroundings, including the ripples and reflections seen on lakes at the complex, The natural beauty of the Staffordshire countryside are all mirrored in design features at the Oak House.

Emma Moss added: “Connecting the natural textures of wall and floor finishes with luxurious velvets gave the perfect balance between the transition from day to evening dining. Bespoke timber screens, lighting installations and a soft planting scheme connected by a natural palate of colour formed the concept and provided a warm, and luxurious dining experience.”
