Keycom helps children to stay safe online

Superfast broadband provider Keycom has gained accreditation from the Friendly WiFi scheme.
The Friendly WiFi logo offers peace of mind to parents that their children can use internet services in public places without seeing pornographic or other unsuitable websites.
Supported by the Government and children’s charities including the NSPCC, Friendly WiFi is the world’s first public WiFi accreditation scheme to block pornographic and child abuse websites, videos and images.
High profile companies including Tesco and Starbucks also support the scheme.
Keycom offer superfast broadband services to companies and organisations including housing associations, universities and the military.
“It is important to offer a safe internet experience to users of public WiFI and we are pleased to receive accreditation from the Friendly WiFi scheme,” said Meri Braziel, Chief Executive of Keycom.
“Keycom provides broadband services to companies and organisations which offer public access via WiFi in communal spaces such as canteens and waiting rooms. It is essential that internet users have peace of mind when using such services, in particular where there is access for families with children.”
In one recent development, Keycom installed broadband services for Weaver Vale Housing Association which included free public WiFi access at a community housing hub in Northwich, Cheshire.
Mike Davies, Director, Friendly WiFi, said: “We are extremely pleased to be able to announce Keycom as an approved Friendly WiFi provider.  It demonstrates their commitment to protecting children and young people whilst they are online using WiFi in public spaces.  We are looking forward to working with Keycom during 2015 and developing the scheme with their clients.”
