Lightning strikes for junior footballers as Beta backs local team

A Staffordshire Moorlands financial services company has backed grass roots junior football by sponsoring under-14s girls football at Leek Town Lightning.

Beta Commercial Finance has bought new home and away kits for the team which plays in League One of the Staffordshire League.

Tom Wilkinson, Managing Director, at Alton-based Beta Commercial Finance, said: “I know the team manager, Richard Weaver, well, as he’s amongst my oldest friends, and the enthusiasm from the team and the volunteer coaches shines through. We’re a company embedded in the local community and were, therefore, pleased to help with new kit.

“We’ve bought both home and away kits for the team and we’re proud to have our logo on the front, promoting junior football in our area.

“Leek Town Lightning have only been going for around three years but secured promotion to Division One in 2019 and cemented that position with a strong fifth place finish last year. They kicked off the new season, sporting their new kit, with a win away to Stone Dominoes.”

Beta Commercial Finance have their own growing team, based at the Old Chapel, High Street, Alton. The company provides financial solutions for businesses looking to invest in premises or equipment for growth.

Tom is a long-time Alton resident and is firmly embedded in the local community, having put together a community group to finance the purchase of and run the historic White Hart pub, on High Street, Alton, saving it from closure and potential redevelopment.
