A North Staffordshire company established just over two years ago is showing incredible growth.
Sixtowns Waste offers holistic waste management solutions, for almost all waste streams.
Owner Ben Trickett of Barlaston, Staffordshire, says expertise, coupled with a new sales strategy, and high customer service standards means business is booming.
“This July was 393% better than last July and is 222% better than our previous best ever month in April this year,” said Ben. “We have seen no lull in August, despite the holiday season.”
Sixtowns Waste works with contractors across the waste disposal sector to ensure that customers, from housholders clearing furniture to large companies with multiple waste disposal needs, get the right solution.
Ben said:“Over the last year, we’ve put a lot of time into cultivating a strong network of contractors and that is paying off now.”
“I am committed to transparency and devote time through our social media channels each week to explaining how we work and the potential solutions that customers need.
“For example, how does a school go about disposing of computer towers and laptops, ensuring they remain compliant with data protection laws?”
Ben said collaboration with other businesses, particularly in Staffordshire, has been crucial to growth, adding: “We network through Staffordshire Chambers, BNI Sir Stanley Matthews, and Grafters, a specialist trades group, while Jonathan Whittby, of Sales Geek, has helped me to build our sales strategy.”
Examples of work completed recently by Sixtowns Waste include site clearance for TCS John Huxley in the Etruria Valley, including hazardous workshop waste, clearance of shipping containers and portacabins at Watermills School, Chell, largescale electrical waste disposal at North Manchester Hospital, and work with Burslem based document management experts Chaffinch to support waste clearance work for their clients.
Ben added: “The business is moving forward because we offer solutions. We will never just say there’s a skip or a bin, we look at it strategically, assessing what can be saved, reused or recycled. This can save you money.
“On the job at Watermills School, there was equipment that could be passed on to local charities or sports clubs, offering both an environmental and a community benefit, with things being used instead of going into landfill.”
Sixtowns Waste has a small core team but generates work for trusted partners in North Staffordshire and beyond by working with skip suppliers, site clearance, hazardous waste and electronic and computer waste companies. The disposal of electronic waste is governed by the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations, known as WEEE. Failure to comply with the waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) regulations, could see you prosecuted and get an unlimited fine from a magistrates’ court or a Crown Court.
The Environmental Protection Act deals with issues relating to waste on land, defining all aspects of waste management. There are specific laws surrounding the disposal of hazardous waste and failure to comply can lead to heavy fines and imprisonment.
