Rob paints a picture of pub life in the Potteries

Regulars at a Stoke-on-Trent pub are among the subject of the latest work by renowned Potteries artist Rob Pointon.

Rob has been documenting the comings and goings in the Bulls Head, Burslem, as he prepares for the opening of his homecoming exhibition at the town’s Barewall Gallery on Friday.

Following a painting trip to the US, Rob has been getting back to his roots painting scenes in North Wales and the Potteries.

The exhibition, sponsored by Titanic Brewery, is being held at Barewall from March 29 to April 5, 2014.

An invitation only preview event is being held on Friday, March 28, while on Saturday (March 29), the opening day of the exhibition will see Burslem town centre come alive with an artisan market and a beer festival, organised by Burslem based Titanic Brewery at the Roebuck in Market Place.

Sam Warrilow of Titanic Brewery said: “Rob has been a welcome regular in our brewery tap, the Bulls Head , in recent days as he has painted the comings and goings in a traditional British pub.

“His work has proved a major talking point for our customers and I hope some of our regulars will make the short trip to Barewall to see if they can spot themselves in the painting”

“As a brewery with our roots firmly in the Potteries, we are delighted to support both Rob and the Barewall Gallery.”

Titanic has agreed to provide beer, produced less than half a mile away in Burslem, for the exhibition preview evening at Barewall.

Owned by Amanda Bromley and Paula Millward, Barewall showcases and champions the work of North Staffordshire artists and the world renowned Burslem School of Art.
