Silversmith Julie to add sparkle to UK Trade Mission

Jewellery designer, Julie Linn, will add sparkle to a Department of Trade and Industry visit to Denmark as she explores possible new markets for her unique designs.

South Cheshire based silversmith Julie creates innovative jewellery for daytime and evening wear and has built a loyal client base in the UK.

But the DTI trip is an ambitious attempt to explore new markets.

“The purpose of this visit is to determine whether the luxury goods market in Denmark is a market that I could be aiming to do business with in the future,” said Julie.

“I believe that the economy and the luxury goods market is strong in Denmark.  In addition, retail prices are generally higher than in the UK which strengthens our export position.

“I will be investigating whether my off the shelf and limited edition jewellery is a good fit and it will be a great opportunity to do some market research.”

Julie combines silversmithing techniques with innovative design ideas to create unique jewellery.

While Julie often works closely with clients to design and make bespoke pieces, she has also built up off-the-shelf and limited edition collections which she will promote on the DTI trade mission.

Added Julie: “I am excited to be involved in the trade mission which I found out about from the North Staffordshire Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

“I had thought I may be too small a company to be accepted and think it is wonderful that the DTI can see the benefit of taking businesses such as mine along.”

Julie gave up a successful career in IT training to pursue her ambition of becoming a jewellery designer maker.

The DTI Export Insight Visit takes place on March 4 and 5.
