A business group has roared passed the £1 million landmark for referrals for the first time ever.
The Sir Stanley Matthews BNI Chapter, based at the Upper House, Barlaston, is enjoying its best ever year, with new members joining and record numbers of visitors attending its breakfast meetings.
Members hit the £1 million pound mark for business passed in the first week of November – easily smashing its efforts in previous years, with almost two months of 2018 remaining.
With 27 members, the Sir Stanley Matthews Chapter is one of the most productive in Staffordshire, in terms of pounds earned per seat.
Chris Basford, Chapter President, said: “It has been a fantastic year, with members pulling together to act as ambassadors and a sales force for all the companies in the room. Our members are all from the local area and every time we find business for another member it is putting money into the Staffordshire economy.”
BNI Staffordshire has over 180 members in seven groups across the county and is run by BNI Executive Director, Tony Altham, with offices at the Lymedale Business Park, Newcastle-under-Lyme.
BNI chapters work to a proven formula and meet at weekly meetings where members are asked to bring referrals for others in the chapter. Tony said: “The idea of BNI is simple, we all work as a team and to the proven philosophy that givers’ gain. Each member is encouraged to look out for business opportunities for every other member and this creates a strong bond.”
Members enjoy business sector exclusivity but guests in sectors that have not been filled are welcome to attend up to two sample meetings.
The Sir Stanley Matthews Chapter was named in honour of the Wizard of Dribble as early meetings were held at Stoke City’s stadium.
