Enterprising pupils from Alleyne’s High School are the 2013 West Midlands Young Enterprise (YE) champions. 

Team Equipo’s victory adds to a remarkable run and success for the Stafford and Stone YE Board which has seen three teams for the area take the West Midlands crown in the past six years. 

Alleyne’s High School pupils won the title with their innovative Earbuddy product. They will now compete in the national finals on 1 July, 2013. 

Backed by a support group of local business people, team Equipo wowed the YE judges with Earbuddy, an ingenious earphone holder which prevents tangling and can be personalised or branded as a corporate gift. 

Following a recent victory in the Staffordshire final, Equipo fought off hot competition from teams from Shropshire, Hereford and Worcester, Birmingham, the Black Country and Coventry and Warwickshire. 

The team received support from their Business Advisors, Sue Green of Stafford based Evergreen HR and Dave Royle from Alstom UK. 

While the chair and vice chair of YE Stafford and Stone, Stuart Walton and Sarah White helped Equipo to prepare for the West Midlands finals.
