Warehouse Beer Party planned to raise funds for the Alice Charity

Beer lovers are being given an exclusive chance to look inside North Staffordshire’s most diverse beer warehouse, while raising a glass for the Alice Charity.

Best of British Beer is hosting a beer party on Saturday 21 August, with people being given a chance to choose from a range of 100 different bottled beers, three cask ales and a gin and Prosecco bar.

Profits from the event will go to help Alice Charity support families in North Staffordshire and the £5 entry fee will include visitors’ first drink.

Gill Sherwin, a Director of Silverdale-based Best of British Beer and an Alice Charity trustee, said: “I’d say this is the beer lovers equivalent of being let loose in a sweet shop. We’ve selected 100 beers from across the UK to choose from.

“There will also be food available at the event which will be held at our by Best of British Beer headquarters, located at Aspect Court, Cannel Row, Silverdale Enterprise Park, ST5 6SS.”

Added Gill: “We have supported Alice Charity throughout our 10 years in business. Alice has deep roots in the local community and provides a diverse range of services to support families.

“The pandemic has led to an ever increasing demand for Alice’s help, including support to feed families, provide furniture and to host support groups to help parents who struggle to make ends meet.

“We wanted to help out and see our Beer Party as the perfect antidote after well over a year of pandemic lockdowns. We’re asking beer lovers and Alice Charity supporters to join us to raise a glass and raise vital funds.”

Alice Charity has delivered support to over 1,300 families in Newcastle and Stoke-on-Trent in the past 12 months.

Demand for services has recently led  the charity to purchase new, larger premises, in Newcastle town centre.

Steph Talbot, Alice Charity’s founder and Chief Executive, said: “We are very fortunate to have the support of companies such as Best of British Beer. As a charity, we rely on donations from our local community and these go directly to support those families in need of support in our community.”

“Why not drop in at Best of British Beer between 12 noon and 7pm on August 21st ,  enjoy a drink with friends and raise money for families In your area?”

Last entry is 7pm as the event is licensed until 8pm.

Steph added: “There is a serious message here. Demand has been unprecedented in recent months. North Staffordshire is a relatively impoverished area of the UK and it is inevitable that more families will suffer here in difficult times.”

Alice’s mission is to offer flexible support in a practical manner for families, with service strands including the “Pass It On” scheme which collects and supplies furniture and household white goods, Bump and Beyond”, which gives new mums practical support,  “Lean In”, a service offering emotional support which aims to break the downward spiral of negative self-worth through compassion and connection, “Buckets of Possibilities”, which aims to turn houses into homes by helping families to fit carpets, hang curtains and decorate, and the “People’s Pantry,” based in Bridge Street, Newcastle, providing food to stop families going hungry.
