World leading Jackmark Engineering celebrates 40 years of excellence and innovation

A Stoke-on-Trent family business that has been driving innovation in the automotive industry for four decades is celebrating its 40th anniversary with ambitious plans for future growth.

Founded in 1984 by the late Peter David Jackson, Jackmark Engineering has become a world leader in the design and manufacture of bespoke, robust test interface solutions for the global automotive sector.

The company, now run by Peter’s son, Mark Jackson, continues to evolve and expand, embracing new technologies and markets while staying true to its family-run ethos.

From its two buildings on Scott Lidgett Road, Longport, Jackmark Engineering supplies some of the biggest names in the industry, including Jaguar Land Rover, Nissan, Bentley, Toyota, Renault, Ford, and Aston Martin. Over the years, the company has also diversified into other sectors, such as electric vehicles, defence, and agriculture, securing contracts with major companies like Staffordshire-based JCB.

Now Director, Mark Jackson, the son of Jackmark’s founder is leading Jackmark in to its next chapter with plans to enter into further markets including the production of testing services for consumer goods, construction, and utility companies.

With a state-of-the-art in-house machine shop, the company specialises in machining plastic and non-ferrous materials, ensuring fast turnaround capabilities that meet the high expectations of its customers.

“We’ve invested in the latest CNC equipment and CAM design programmes, but what truly sets us apart is our investment in people,” said Mark. “We have a dedicated team of 24, many of whom have been with us for decades. Some have been here for over 30 years, and we continue to build for the future by bringing in new talent.”

As part of its commitment to growth, Jackmark Engineering welcomed three new apprentices in 2024, reinforcing its dedication to training and development.

“We’re proud to offer long-term careers and opportunities for the next generation of engineers,” Mark added.

Jackmark’s reputation has been built on quality, reliability, and strong relationships. Many customers have come to Jackmark through word of mouth, with engineers recommending the company as they move between manufacturers.

Mark said: “Our ability to adapt and deliver solutions has been key to our success. That’s why our reputation continues to grow, and as we enter new markets, we’ll take that same commitment to excellence with us.”

Jackmark Engineering has also kept pace with the shift to electric vehicles, developing an extensive range of products to support testing battery pack assembly lines and vehicle manufacturing assembly plants. With the UK government’s plan to phase out petrol and diesel cars by 2030.

Looking ahead to a bright future as Jackmark celebrates its 40th anniversary, the company is also refreshing its brand with a new website and branding for 2025 to mark this milestone.

“This is an exciting time for us,” added Mark. “We are a family firm with strong roots, and we are committed to growing organically while staying true to the values that have made us successful. We are a family firm with a loyal team.

“Our staff retention rates are very high. My father started the company, who had an engineering background. The company found a market working to supply a local wiring harness manufacturing company called Lucas Rists, which later became Leoni Wiring Systems.

“I joined around 28 years ago and gained experience in all roles in the company before becoming a company director. “It is important to stay true to the business’s roots and work on a programme of continuous development.

“Along with the development of new markets, we are working on our online presence by improving our website, and we have new branding for 2025 to celebrate our 40th anniversary. With a loyal team, an expanding market, and a passion for innovation, the future for Jackmark Engineering looks brighter than ever.”
