Keycom Chief Executive named among the UK’s top women IT business leaders

Meri Braziel

A Staffordshire business woman has had her achievements recognised by being shortlisted for a top IT industry award.

Meri Braziel, Chief Executive at specialist broadband provider Keycom, has been named as one of the finalists in the Business Leader of the Year category for the Women in IT Awards.

Meri joined Keycom in 2011 and has 25 years’ experience in the global telecommunications industry.

With a background in finance management, marketing and business development for technology companies, Meri has held prominent roles in several hi-tech businesses.

The Women in IT Awards recognises outstanding achievements by women in the industry. Judging takes place in January with the winners announced at a gala evening at the prestigious Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London on 29 January, 2015.

The Business Leader of the Year category focuses on innovation, growth and leadership and spotlights new business development opportunities and achievements by the shortlisted candidates in the previous 12 months.

The Women in IT Awards also aim to address the lack of women in professional IT roles. Numbers have actually halved to 17 per cent in the last 20 years despite huge growth in the IT sector and research evidence showing that women on technology company management teams yield a 34 per cent higher return on investment.

Keycom, based on the Staffordshire Technology Park with a further office at the Wrexham Technology Park, has had a successful 2014. Landmark achievements include the acquisition of TriCommunications Ltd to work under Keycom’s Media Force specialist military brand and an eye-catching deal to supply the UK’s fastest broadband to residents of the exclusive Kings Chelsea development in conjunction with Vision Fibre Media.

Meri said: “The Keycom business has enjoyed a successful 2014 with key new appointments and diversification of our company offer.  I am honoured to be nominated for a Women in IT Award but see this as a reward not just for me but for everyone in our Stafford and Wrexham based teams.”
