A North Staffordshire travel expert is to throw the spotlight on the booming cruise holiday market, while raising funds to support a well-known local charity fundraiser.
John Lehnert will stage a cruise travel event at Newcastle-under-Lyme Golf Club on Monday, April 17, with all funds from the entry fee going to support Ada Haywood BEM, a fundraiser for Cancer Research UK and the British Heart Foundation.
John will be joined by Paul Mellon, Business Development Manager, Riviera Travel.
“Some people may still think cruise holidays are only for the elite, but nothing could be further from the truth. Cruising is the fastest growing holiday sector and there’s a cruise to suit almost everyone at every price point.
“We’ll be busting some myths about cruising while raising money in support of local fundraising legend, Ada Haywood.”
Ada’s tireless efforts have raised well over £1 million for her chosen charities and received official recognition when she was awarded a British Empire Medal in 2018.
John runs Get Set Go travel and has an office at Trent House, Fenton. While John works across the whole of the travel market, he’s also a specialist, accredited by the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA).
The CLIA says the number of cruise ship passengers increased from 17.8 million in 2009 to 30 million in 2019 and cruise holidays have bounced back strongly from the recent pandemic lockdowns.
John said: “A cruise holiday, either at sea or on one of the world’s great rivers give holidaymakers fantastic value for money. There’s an array of options available, examples include a cruise along the Rhine to visit the German Christmas markets, a Disney cruise, an island-hopping Caribbean cruise or a visit to the Norwegian Fjords.”
“There’s superb choice on board ship with top quality restaurants, entertainment options, guest speakers, water park and even a multi-level go kart track aboard one luxury liner.
“And, of course, holidaymakers get to wake up to different views as their holidays progress.”
John, who lives in Packmoor, Stoke-on-Trent, added: “It’s a real bonus to have Paul, from Riviera Travel, at the event. Attendees will get a real insight on what’s on offer in 2023 and beyond.
“I’ve decided to set a small entrance fee and to donate the money raised to Ada Haywood’s charity fund as she works hard to both raise awareness of and raise funds for research into the advancement of cancer treatment and heart conditions.”
